August 1, 200619 yr I am currently looking at an 86 Subaru GL DR with 244,000 miles. It is going to need a new CV assembly and brakes all around. What do you guys think a fair price for this would be? I have included a pic of the outside. The interior is in good condition. I am trying to buy it to resell after fixing it up.
August 1, 200619 yr Kinda rusty on back fenders and high milage. Is it 4x4? looks like 50 to 100 beater.
August 1, 200619 yr That is an 84 or earlier. $100-400, but probably on the lower end unless it has some new parts.
August 1, 200619 yr yeah if other than the brakes and cv its all fairly new parts and well maintained and not alot of gremlins and such....at the most probably $400 with as rusty and crusty as it looks on the outside.
August 1, 200619 yr I'd say $200 - $350. It looks pretty rough (but then again it's sitting in the weeds). If it was pristine inside it might go for more but with the money you'll need to put into it (CV, brakes etc.), the highe mileage etc. I would be inclined to offer low. Kevin
August 1, 200619 yr Author What year would you say that it was? I was thinking the same thing. I have not actually seen it in person at this time. I have just been dealing with the lady by e-mail.
August 1, 200619 yr That's an 83/84 GL 4WD..... In WA or OR not more than $100 - $200 if you are looking for a good deal. Any more would be extremely questionable with that much mileage. GD
August 1, 200619 yr that would have an ea81 engine with 4sp d/r where the heck is the rust??? it looks pretty clean to me. get it as cheap as possible, i`d offer $100-150.
August 1, 200619 yr Author So what do you guys think I could get for it if I was to fix the problems and cleaned it up?
August 2, 200619 yr because I have been looking at a ton of Subarus lately, I can honestly say with the knowledge that I have gained...no more than 200 bucks if the car is in GREAT working shape.....100-150 would be my average offer.
August 2, 200619 yr cleaned up and driving, you could pull in the neighborhood of $500 for it with those miles. to be honest, it just doesn`t seem worth while unless your buying it to drive or make into an off roader
August 2, 200619 yr yeah you wouldnt make any money on that if you bought it to fix it up then sell it. maybe if you kept it for 20 years. looks like an '84 DL 4wd to me, and I dont see the rust, paint looks like it probably needs work if you want it to look nice. with it needing an axle and brakes I'd say 200-250 at most, and its probably gonna need tires too... dd/offroad project, otherwise I wouldnt buy it.
August 2, 200619 yr Consider that your going to probably put anywhere from $200 - $500 into it. You say it needs CV jopints and brakes and with that much mileage I'd be surprised if there aren't more than a few other things that will need ot be fixed (especially if you want to fix it up and sell it).
