Meeky Moose
ok, as most of ya know, i swapped in an engine that had sat for at least a good solid 4 years if not more.. that water pump worked, so i ran it for a day, engine temp ran at the 2nd bar on an ea81 temp gauge.. but the bearing was outa it and woblin makin noise, so i got a new one.. the new one runs a about this much ( I-I ) above that 2nd bar on the temp gauge now.. any particular reason? lol i can't seem to figure it out.. it doesn't overheat or get close so i'm not worryin about it, just seems a little strange to me.. i left the same thermostat in there also.. Meeky Moose
i thoguht that too, so i cranked the heater, let it warm up to where the temp leveled off, and added coolant.. made no difference... hehe thats why its seems strange to me.. Turbone
Did you mess with the hoses at the firewall? There is an in & out for the heater hoses. Rob
calebz
Loose belt would also do that
Setright
OE pump? Some copies don't have as many vanes on the pump wheel and cant move enough coolant.
Caboobaroo
replace your t-stat. If it sat without water on it, it dried up and they will fail when they dry up
Meeky Moose
how would i tell which hose on the firewall went where? i did have the engine out so those were cut. and replaced.. thanks for the tips all..
LostWater
Definitely replace the thermostat. It is cheap and easy to do. I replace mine once a year. Mark
Caboobaroo
the hoses running into the firewall go to your heater core. If you diconnect those, well it'll get a little chilly in the winter time. Yes do replace your t-stat. It will help with coolant flow which will keep your engine temp down. Like LostWater said, he replaces his once a year which I would also recommend.
