Trouble finding rims...

Featured Replies

Hey guys n gurls...

I went through a lot of the threads that have to do with rims/wheels, read about what kind of rims fit on our cars with the 4x140 style pattern, but I still can't find any rims that will fit on my car... I looked on ebay, etc... called some dismantlers and said they had some 13s and 14s that would work but I am really looking for something bigger (16s or 17s) that would fit good on my 86 soobie gl... You guys also mentioned Enkei and another company make aftermarket rims that are specially made for our cars, but i looked on the enkei site and couldn't find any info....any other places I could look for some stylish 16s or 17s with the 4x140 pattern? thanks all....

If you convert to a legacy lug pattern you would have no trouble at all finding 16s/17s. Is that conversion possible guys?

If you read the archieves then you'll note that most of the aftermarket for 4x140 bolt pattern are pug wheels which only go as large as 15 inches. You would be better off having your hubs redrilled at a machine shop to accept a 4x100 bolt pattern then the sky is the limit on just about any aftermarket wheel you can afford.

^^ Thanks guys, but I was really looking for those Enkeis that came in 16s and 17s which I read in the archives, I forget who mentioned it....but....I would like some 16s or 17s in that pattern if it is possible.

You can also take the entire suspension and braking system from an XT6, which will give you the late model 5-lug pattern and with it wheel options that are only limited by what fill fit inside the fenders.

As has been mentioned on numerous occasions, having the 6 lug Toyota pattern drilled opens up a good deal of possibilities, steel as well as alloy and in every wrecking yard on the planet. I believe there is a heading in the manual at the top of the front page about it.:bday:

^^ Thanks guys, but..

I read a majority of those conversions and such through the archives.... but does anyone know where I can find those 4x140 rims in 16s and up? I know there has to be some floating around somewhere....Sorry guys, Im not trying to make this hard...just really want that pattern rim..

They don't exist.

Your options are as follows:

13 soob rims

13 inch einkies(soob)

14 inch pug rims(steel or alloy)

14 inch jackmans(good luck)

14 inch einkies(peugeot)

15 inch pug rims(steel or alloy)

6 lug conversion

5 lug XT6 conversion

4x100mm conversion

Plus the occasional oddball aftermarket 14 ich rims made for soobs through out the 80's .. few and far between

Thats it.. there are no 16, 17, 18, 19 inch rims for 4x140 unless you have them custom made.

Listen to Caleb. You dont have the option of using a 16" or 17" rim unless you change the bolt pattern. Its easier to change to 6 lug than a 4x100 bolt pattern. But 6 lug's are for trucks, and you'd have to get 16 or 17" truck rims in a 6 lug pattern.

The 15" Pugs are large enough... why do you need anything bigger??

There is a selection of 6 lug wheels that have very different backspacing than those intended for offroad. You see them every now and then on Toyota 4X4s, usually the ones that are lowered and are sporting street tires. I imagine there aren't many but they are out there.
