upgrades for '93 impreza

Featured Replies

hey everyone I had a couple of questions, I just got a '93 impreza for my wife, after i get the car in top shape I was curious what kind of upgrades can I do with the car, for example is there any cold air intake system I can put in there and what other kind of performance stuff can I get for the car, thanks for all the help

Damien

it basically has a CAI already that sucks in from the fender...

Engine upgrade depend upon the engine that you have in the car. As for other type of upgrades (i.e. wheels, interior, body kits) almost everything that will fit on a 1993 to 2001 Impreza will fit on your car. There have been some interior changes that must be taking into consideration, but aside from that, everything else should fit. If you get real adventurous, you could always go for a JDM WRX drivetrain conversion.

You can get a few extra HP with a freer-flowing exhaust and maybe some cams. Borla and OBX headers for a dual port will work for you and delta makes cams.

There are a lot more options for suspension/brake stuff. There is quite a bit available in the aftermarket in that area, it just depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.

Other than making sure the engine is in top running condition and using the correct fuel grade - anything under the hood is gonna require some extensive work or a swap (2 liter turbo from a wrecked STi or WRX or a front clip from Japan or ?)

Lighter pulleys, lighter rims, lighter flywheel if manual tranny will free up some ponies for acceleration.

There's lot more potential in suspension work to make a fun AutoX or rallyX machine, not so much for 1/8 or 1/4 mile.

check the NA forum at www.nasioc.com too.

thanks for all the help, it has the 1.8 front wheel drive and I was looking at performance parts and accesories like aztecca lights I was just curious if parts from a newer impreza like a 99 or 00 would fit on the 93, in other words what kindof of other vehicles parts fit on the 93, and are there any good sites for decent priced parts.

If you go to the newer lights, you will have to change the hood and grille to match.

Finally someone new with a FWD (aka Rear Wheels Paralized) ej18. The ej18 really isn't as gutless as it's made out to be...not when matched with FWD. I'd imagine the AWD models aren't going to be setting any speed records, but the FWD ones will really scoot with a little encouragement. Not that I'm a speed demon, but I do like to avoid getting smacked into when pulling into traffic.

There's not really much aftermarket for these cars...not unless you're burning a hole in your wallet. If you want aftermarket, you're going to pay for it. Personally, I'd just appreciate your engine's reliability and gas mileage.
