September 29, 200619 yr MY hill holder is leaking and I have removed the cable completely, but it still leaks and I was wondering if new brake lines with female -ends could by-pass the hill holder if they can be bought...scrap yard parts are not available to me
September 29, 200619 yr You should be able to bypass the hill holder, i wouldn't see why you couldn't. Don't really need a hill holder in Michigan anyway.
September 29, 200619 yr What part of the hill holder is leaking? You may have a "dual diagonal" braking system depending on the year. Be careful what you seal off you may loose part of your braking system?
September 29, 200619 yr Fix it fix it fix it!!!!!!!! I love the look on 4wd nerds when i tell them that my little wagon has hill holder and there big strong jeep doesnt!!!!
September 29, 200619 yr I may have one, mine was leaking, but it fixed itself, If its not at my parents in San diego, i'll let you know.
September 30, 200619 yr I installed new O-rings in my hill holder about 7 years ago and it hasn't leaked since. Just make sure you use o-rings compatible with brake fluid - I may have used viton but not sure. Make sure you don't use buna-N as it is NOT compatible with brake fluid. Oh - and of course they are metric.
September 30, 200619 yr I removed the H-H from my '82 BRAT, using the "T" fitting found on the H-H bracket, and another "T" from a scrapped car. So yeah, it can be done. If you want to keep the H-H on yours, I have a good one here I can send your way.
