lifting a 88 hatch

Featured Replies

I no longer have my subaru but a new co worker has one that he is wanting to lift. I know there is a search button, but I do not want to read a bunch threads that can get off topic.

So my questions is body/suspension lifts where to get them and how much $$$ and how much lift do you get? I remember reading about someone who did like a 6" lift with some 2"x6" tube and longer bolts, but that is about it that I remember, maybe someone can help me out:banghead:

The only lifts that you can buy are from either Austrailia, or from PKDavis ( http://www.ozified.com/ ) who makes the same thing licensed from a company in Austrailia. The largest lift he offers is a 4/3 lift (4" in front, 3" in rear). If your friend wants bigger than that, he'll have to make it himself, or contact someone like Mudrat79 (John) who does custom lifts (he lifted mine - check out my pictures in the gallery). He's here in Oregon, so he could easily do the car and deliver it to you in Washington I'm sure. He did a great job on my 3" lift, and he has a hatch just like your friends that has 12" of lift, and runs 35's - he took it on the Rubicon....

Be sure to check out state law about how much lift is permitted. Here in VA, in the metropolitan areas at least, they are sticklers about this stuff. Out in the country it may not matter--the Good Ol' Boy thing.

Yeah - same in Oregon - John has driven the Beast (12" hatch with 35's) around town in Eugene - they don't care. My wagon drives around all the time - no one cares.

i know yur not in Virginia, but here the big book of inspections says 3" of body lift and no suspension lift.. although i wonder how the guys with trucks can lift thiers 8" or more and get away with it, :cornfuzz:

Lifts can't be that illegal here in WA, Les Schwabb sells and installs lift kits for trucks.

Your friend in Tenino is in good company. There are quite a few lifted Soobs in Wa and OR.

Easy, the same way Harleys and pre 1980 domestics can be as loud as they want to.

If you need a B.S. inspection place, I know of a few.

yeah, when i had the hatch inspected, the guy measured the block thats on the engine crossmember (least i think thats where its at) that one was 3" he never looked at the way the strut is mounted :D theres another 1" there..
