Often in the morning, if I let my wagon idle, there is a scraping, rubbing metal sound in time with RPMs. It makes my petrol car sound like a diesel. If I step on the gas, and step up the RPMs, the grinding goes away, and all sounds normal. After arriving at work (a 20min drive) i can idle, and there is no grinding. Some mornings, it's not there. Others it is. I can't tell it it's temperature related or not. I added some Rislone to the oil (as per my mechanic friends suggestion) and it didn't seem to help. Anything sound familiar about this? If this is a belt tensioner, should i get it fixed ASAP, or can i combine it with other work in the next couple of months. Will it do more damage to other things if not fixed soon?
