October 26, 200619 yr http://usera.imagecave.com/benfroebel/lift.jpg what are the issues with doing it this way for a minor lift? is 1" or 2" fairly useable without much chance of cv failure? tires will wear unevenly?
October 26, 200619 yr I dont see how that will gain any lift? looks like you got enough to drop the tranny radius rod plates and whats the deal with the struts? if ea81 you'll gain I think about 3" in the rear with the ea82 struts from what I've heard. I have no idea, but I do know your rear axles wont last long. can you give any more info about the lift? with any lift unless you do something to correct your camber the outside of the tires will wear more than the inside, and since rear toe isnt ajustable that may cause some minor handling/wear issues but should be a problem with tough tires.
October 26, 200619 yr Author oh right, this is not EA81 or EA82. it's an XT6 (ER27). i don't want tons of lift, probably just something you offroaders would laugh at. if i could easily get an inch or two without seriously straining the reliability of the vehicle i'd go for it. the picture shows strut extensions, that's it. the 3 cylinders are just spacers/extenders for the top three mounting studs on the front struts. they go between the strut and the body mounting points. the other two are the rear strut tops, those extended pieces of metal are just metal welded to the strut top as spacers between the strut and body.
October 26, 200619 yr Author if i got this right, ideally i'd need trans mount and engine crossmember spacers to reduce the cv axle some. that's all the extra pieces i don't understand when i see pictures of lift kits. makes sense now.
October 26, 200619 yr Author coilovers? i have air suspension with the height switch installed (not available in the US). haven't gotten it to work yet, but will.
October 26, 200619 yr Gary, the other post has all the disadvatages listed. It is a hack job at best. Guarranteed to devour axles, mounts and possibly even struts/mounts.

I'm sure SJR could make something based on an EA82, that would work how you want it to....
October 27, 200619 yr Because the front strut extensions in that picture don't correct for camber you will eat your tires up fast. I'd put no more stress then already there on the front axles. But because the rear axles are normally flat and only use the DOJ style, not CVJ they should take another 2" without a problem. So lifting the back 2" would be easy IMO, just strut extensions. Front needs a full lift kit, trans, engine, carrier bearing, struts...
