November 3, 200619 yr I am going to go about lifting my 83 GL Wagon atleast 6 inches but no more than 8. I'm wondering what mods besides the steering shaft lengthening I have to do to my steering. Will just lengthening the shaft work?

November 3, 200619 yr Should be able to lengthen the shaft like on the 3 inch lift from PK, you will also need to extend the brake lines, and a few other wires and hoses to make everything work.

Radiator lines will need some work, I found I could just modify the lower one but the top one I replace with some of the flexible heater hose stuff. as far as hoses to the heater core go I dont remember having to replace those. Steering shaft and brakelines are the big things, along with rear shocks and I'm sure you know you need strut top extensions or something for similar effect to gain any lift... they will need to be offset to regain correct camber. You will need to play with/modify the shifter and 4wd linkages significantly.
November 8, 200619 yr old school tie rod.cut steering shaft,place into ends of desired length of tie rod....weld. it helps if you use a piece of angle iron to keep stuff squared up.... with that angle you will probably have to grind a bit off of the end of your steering column so it doesn't rub horribly.
