i have 16" impreza WRX rims and 16" Forester XT Turbo rims. got a good leak on snow tires, will 225/60/16's fit?

which brings up the real question...how do you know what tires can fit on the rims? what are the limits?

Might be I don't understand the question but...that tire has a section width of 8.85", and a recommended rim width of 6" to 9". I use and prefer the tire calculator at 1010tires.com.

Gary, 225/60R16 is stock Outback size, they should fit on a WRX rim fine.

They fit on my 6.5 wide rim fine.

The lower limit is 70%. That means the rim must be at least 70% the width of the tyre.

 

I would strongly recommend 80%-90% for optimum handling.

baja factory size too.

my WRX wheels have 205 55 16 tires on them. so the 225 is "two sizes" too big so to speak. wasn't sure they would fit. would rather have skinnier tires for snows but i'll live with them for my first set of snows.

If you just need a spare in that size, I have 2 good tires on that size, treadwear is alright, but they're just some walmart special tires. Free if you want them.

thanks bruce, i'm golden on the tires. both sets of rims have new tires on them. i'm getting a matching set of snow tires to put on one set though for winter driving.

I was thinking more along the lines of a full size spare.

Gary: i love those wheels....I wish I had something that needed wheels 'cause I would love to put them on a car (not sure they would look right on the baja)

 

Bruce: I'd take one of those tires if you wanted to ship it. I have a 16" steel rim but no tire...I'd like a FS spare for the "longer treks" If you would ship it I'd gladly pay the shipping and throw some "beer money" at ya. LMK

 

Gary again: just make sure those bigger tires will clear the struts...too bad you are so far...we could rip the wheels off the baja and test fit the OBS (if you felt like taking a sunday drive.... LMK)
