Absolutely gorgeous Brat. My favorite color too. My advice before it's too late, get a professional appraisal done and get it insured for replacement value ($10K is not excessive IMHO). Go to one of the companies that insures classic cars for full value; your insurance company would likely limit its value around $3K (if you are lucky). Best of luck with whatever you do with it; it is certainly one of a kind.
