I just got a new O2 sensor and installed it in my car...the old one was cracked and in terrible shape....without disconnecting the battery how long will it take the computer to adjust to the new readings?

God knows, but id just pull the ECU fuse for 45 mins, then let it program itself.

just clear the codes and go, there is no adjustment period.

I agree with Eric, In the FSM it states after a front O2 replacement, the ECU should be reset either by the Subaru Select Monitor or ODBII generic device. It's easier to pull the battery lead for 15-20 minutes.

 

Then start the car and let it idle for 15-20 minutes without driving. This will begin the new ECU learn.

 

During this time you can reset the clock and your radio stations.

i know one, i dont know if this will work, but i think when you shut off the key it runs at a really really low voltage, which keeps the memory going, or there is a separate connection, so depending on how low the voltage is, run a seperate battery to radio just to hold the memory, although im probably wrong, but atleast i tried:clap:

 

Or just pull the EGI/AT fuse(as said on my fuse box inside the car)

Saw a solution for this a while back, involved something with a nine volt battery hooked into the cigarette lighter/power adapter.

That would work if the radio and the cig lighter are on the same circuit and you pulled the fuse for that circuit. I've also seen setups with a cigarette lighter plug hooked to alligator clips so you can plug in an actual 12v battery.
