January 12, 200719 yr Hello, I was just driving home today(got ball joints in, finally:clap: ) and decided to see what she could do. Could not pull past just about 72 mph. Now, I was hoping for at least 80. Now, rewind 7 hours, to when I just got out of school. I was chasing after a friend, and turned, shifted to 2nd, and the car started to bog down, I took out of gear, and engine died. Sat for a minute, fuming, then cranked, fired over, died, cranked, and ran fine. Now, I am new to the field of carburetion, but could it be an issue with that? And could the extreme slowness be related to the bogging issue? Thanks! P.S. On a side note, what should I use for an oil pump, Subaru, or is there a suitable alternative? Same question for water pump.
January 12, 200719 yr if you have a eletric fuel pump, check the ground. if not your float may be stickin. ajust the high speed jet, and advance your timing and you will hit 80+ a lil bit of modin and youll be mobin:lol:
January 12, 200719 yr i forgot to mention that. those stupid things! theres so much that runs threw the carb already. they just clog up and create chaos. Tank flush and carb cleaner additive
January 12, 200719 yr Author Hmm, I can't believe I forgot about the fuel filter. I always replace those, normally the first thing. Oh well. Thanks a bunch, I'll try these ideas out
January 12, 200719 yr Zeb reminder of what GD said Fuel Filters The one in the engine compartment is called a fuel separator, it to is a fuel filter, the real filter is under the car by the fuel pump. It is the first line of defense and the one that needs serviced first.
January 12, 200719 yr About the Carb. Have you Checked the Secondary´s Vacuum? ... (If that´s the Hitachi Carb.) if your Subie doesn´t feels Powerfully (Specially at Higher RPM´s) I think that you must have the Secondary unplugged, or Failin´ ... Good Luck!
January 13, 200719 yr Author I have yet to check anything, I have not gotten around to it yet. It is indeed the Hitachi, though. When it runs out of steam is right around, 3200 rpm, I want to say.
