lame compatability question

Recommended Posts

There are alot or parts that will inter-change. To start all the 80 to 84 wagons should have like interiors and exteriors with a few minor/cosmetic differences. Then you have Brats, Coupes, and Hatches. Some stuff will fit some wont. The Brat is probably the most different. It has different doors, and seats. Obvious differences are in things like back glass, side glass etc. Best bet is to stick as close to wagon parts as you can. I know this is a rather general answer, but you asked a very broad question. If you get more specific I'm sure there will be others who can give you more difinate answers. Later, tim

door panels and the majority of the interior parts will be either wagon of 4dr sedan from 80-84, the doors themselves would also be that way, hood front fenders will work from any of the ea81 body style cars, the grill assy would need to be from one with like parts to yours, or retro fitted from another, say for intsance if you wanted to go with the four light design you'd probably have to modify your radiator support to bolt them to your car, if you've got the two round headlights the grill and headlight trim from any std hatch would work, all the ea81 style dashes swap out, say you get one for an 84 gl, you'd have the newer dash style and intrument cluster with tach and oil pressure and all that stuff

None of the interior colors will match. Only 80/81

Actually, the fenders won't fit from later models as the cut-outs for the side markers aren't the same, and the antenna is on the wrong fender.

Partially true - the wireing is WAY different - you would need both FSM's to sort it out, and even then it's a nightmare. Also ALL GL's had the tach, oil pressure, etc - even 80/81. Only the DL's came without so there would be no reason to do this anyway.
