Are there 5 fuel filters between the tank and carb.

Featured Replies

A tow truck operator told me there are 5 filters between tank and the carb on a 86 wagon. Is that true ?

No. Two is all. One next to the fire wall, next to the brake booster and one in the back on the fuel pump platform. Later, Tim

Was that before or after he towed your subaru and then gave you the fix it bill?

I survived the bill. We got the car running and did not have to do a 200 mile tow. I know on another 86 subaru wagon I had there was a plastic filter near the electric fuel pump near the gas tank. Thanks for the help.

There's only a single filter on the EA82 carbs. EA81's have a filter and a vapor seperator (which includes a filter, but it is neither required, nor it's primary purpose).

My 86 wagon Ea82 only has one near the fuel pump.

Ok, be real specific on where it is. How would I find it?

Look up at the frame in front of the right rear wheel. You will see a tin plate and right on top of it is the fuel pump and filter.

Cool...maybe I ought to change the filter. :) Thanks!

Hey,

My '86 carb wagon has two as well. Keep in mind there's probably a "sock" on the pickup in the fuel tank. A pre filter for the fuel pump.
