January 28, 200719 yr Hello crowd, I have a 1991 Soobie legacy 2wd. Off & on I've been keeping an eye out for a set of mag wheels but there's not much selection in 14" 5-bolt wheels. Can I use an adapter to convert 5-bolt to 4-bolt and is this advisable? Also, where would be a good place to look online for such an item? TIA
January 28, 200719 yr Don't bother with 14 inch rims. Go to 15 or 16. There's no reason to go to a 4 bolt pattern.
January 29, 200719 yr Yeah, all the old gen owners already suffer from not being able to get any aftermarket wheels or non-subaru wheels. The subaru 4 bolt pattern is only shared by peugot. You are so lucky to have a 5 bolt pattern -- go to 15" wheels -- lots of options from the later legacies there. My pickup truck had the same problem -- 14" wheels were OEM which was fine with me, but you can't get decent 14" radial truck tires any more. So I just went to 15" wheels, and a lower aspect tire (high aspect tires apparently went out of vogue along time ago too)
January 29, 200719 yr Since your car shares a bolt pattern with all the newer soobs, including the WRX and STI models, there are TONS of wheels available that will fit. Of course, finding them cheaply may be a challenge. However, you can usually get a good deal on some stock alloys from a WRX, forester, or outback that somebody took off when installing fancy wheels, and I think that some of those rims look really good on the early legacy.
January 29, 200719 yr check the nasioc regional classifieds. Expect to pay between $200-300 for 16" WRX wheels with tires.

TIA To be *honest* I'm not too sure about back spacing, but it seems to me that 5lug X100mm is a standard Chrysler bolt pattern, why would you adapt? This might be useful to determine what might fit your situation: http://www.alloyguide.co.uk/index.htm

The STI models do NOT use the 5x100 pattern. They use the 5x114.3 bolt pattern as seen on the SVX.
