Water Pump choice???

Featured Replies

I finally got the water pump off my 91 Loyale ( it was leaking bad)

Thanks for all your help.

Now what brand should I buy? Autozone,NAPA, Advanced autoparts, or carquest? OEM maybe? but they are usually on the high side? Anyone has good experience with aftermarket water pump?

Thanks again!!!

What ever you do. Do not get a rebuilt waterpump. Your time is more valuable than the $10-$15 bucks you will pay. The OEM pump should be a Atsugi/ Paraut. You can call around to see if any of your local stores have them. I carry it, but that doesn't help you in St. Louis.

One thing to look for in a waterpump, is a solid pump portion. Some of the cheaper ones have 'fins" and those should be avoided if possible.

I dont know how that compares to after market but you can order an OEM pump (91 Loyale) online at 1stSubaruparts for 65$ USD.

Did business with them twice and am very satisfied with the prices and shipping speed.

Yep, something like this you would want to stick with OEM. Aftermarket/rebuilt just aren't near as reliable in most cases. And honestly, They aren't much cheaper. Pay the extra 10-15 bucks and get the peace of mind. Boz
