March 19, 200719 yr Since I've got my coupe running, more or less properly, You guys think I could get it to around 140hp pretty easily? Or should I take the time to drop an EJ22 into it? (You'd be surprised at how many there are up here, without cars attached) No, this isn't a, zomg tell me how 2 mak mah carrr fast! Just curious if the investment would be fit on something else entirely (And yes, I know I probably should have searched, but I'm off to bed soon)
March 19, 200719 yr I think you could yes. Don't ask me how specifically though. I only have vauge Ideas in that department.
March 19, 200719 yr in europe the EA82T delivered stock 136hp, with a bigger exhaust and some small intake mods, you can easily get 140hp the main difference between EDM and USDM is the boost pressure (there may be more), mines set at 0,6/0,7 bar while yours is at 0,4/0,5 so upping the boost and adding an intercooler will net you some ponies
March 19, 200719 yr Author I would assume that's to the wheel? Sar far performance wise, I've been told between 110 and 115 whp. So the goal is 130+ whp without going into debt.
March 19, 200719 yr 130whp might not be possible reliably without lots of money. For 130hp, you're looking at about 180chp, when stock is 115. The EDM/JDM XTs make 136chp. Pick two: Reliability Performance Cost

So the goal is 130+ whp without going into debt. no that is crank HP, the EDM have stock ~136chp and the USDM have ~115chp you should read the threads of WJM (will) he has done a lots of research and even had some succes (there are more people who have done the same, calebz, boostedballs for instance, there is loads to read)
March 19, 200719 yr header, full 2.5 inch turbo back exhaust, leave the intake alone, and a boost controller. just don't do any long pulls unless you want to invest in some engine management
March 19, 200719 yr Author Was afraid it'd be crank, Doesn't matter, still scoots faster than most cars around here. I would like to do some dyno runs, but the closest place that can run all four wants $90 a run :\
March 19, 200719 yr 2.5" exhaust and DP, 0.7 bar boost and 136 hp off the wheels (162 chp)... that was my turbo Leone couple of years ago. Easy and cheap and reliable
March 19, 200719 yr 2.5" exhaust and DP, 0.7 bar boost and 136 hp off the wheels (162 chp)... that was my turbo Leone couple of years ago. Easy and cheap and reliable I have that exact setup and I highly doubt I have 160chp, was that with or without IC? stock manifold/uppipe?
March 20, 200719 yr The money invested in making an EA-82T run 140 hp would be more useful in making an EJ22T, or just the plain EJ22 more peppy, and the EJ series is arguably much more reliable. I'd go EJ, just my .02 cents
March 20, 200719 yr EA82T ftw. I've had mine that fast. Easy. I had one that was putting out 240 CRANK hp and 320 CRANK tq for a LONG time. No problems. That engine still lives today after 40k+ street miles, a day at the road course, over 100 autox's and a few mountian runs.
March 20, 200719 yr EA82T ftw. I've had mine that fast. Easy. 240 CRANK hp and 320 CRANK tq Thats All I read in that sentence... are you for real??????????????????????????? and what mods, please say none internally!
March 20, 200719 yr Thats All I read in that sentence... are you for real??????????????????????????? and what mods, please say none internally! you must be new here......
March 20, 200719 yr in europe the EA82T delivered stock 136hp, with a bigger exhaust and some small intake mods, you can easily get 140hp ... Please, Don´t Forget the Stock "Rally" Version of the EA82T, that Delivered 190 Hp. For More info, read: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68709 ...I'd go EJ, just my .02 cents Well... isn´t Bad Idea, if you can find Easy a Cheap EJ Engine...
March 20, 200719 yr Thats All I read in that sentence... are you for real??????????????????????????? and what mods, please say none internally! Header, turbo back, STI TMIC, intake, 14 PSI of boost.
March 20, 200719 yr Header, turbo back, STI TMIC, intake, 14 PSI of boost. and it didn't go lean? I thought that was the main problem, injectors maxing out and no easy/cheap way of controlling bigger ones.
March 20, 200719 yr Author So...best bet for more power is more boost, and for the long run a new engine. I like those odds! Eheh... So You guys think that .7 bar would over power my injectors? (roughly 10lbs of boost) I don't mind running a little lean either, better gas mileage is always a bonus XD

(roughly 10lbs of boost) I don't mind running a little lean either, better gas mileage is always a bonus XD .7 bar will be fine, my car runs stock .6/.7 so that won't be a problem, 14psi is more like 1 bar, and that may be a problem (wait for will's response, he knows )
March 20, 200719 yr 12 PSI maxes the injectors at 4000 RPM with that setup. So yes, I was running about 15:1 at redline at 14~15 PSI.
March 20, 200719 yr 12 PSI maxes the injectors at 4000 RPM with that setup. So yes, I was running about 15:1 at redline at 14~15 PSI. I was only planning on running 10 pounds, What did you do to the fuel cut, or is yours the one of the lucky ones... I was planning on buying a fuel cut defenser but not so soon...
March 21, 200719 yr It was a 250ms fuel cut every 10 seconds of boost time. Thats better than the standard cut...which detects overboost, counts...then cuts fuel until the boost is back below 10psi.
March 21, 200719 yr My two cents is go EJ... I loathe the EA82T, I've had quite a few and none of them hold together, not even in stock form... my SPFI EA82 is a billion times more reliable. I wanted more power in my Rx, I added an intercooler and before I could do anything else, the HGs blew out of the blue. Now its almost done with an EJ25 swap... not the best engine ever, but I got it cheap.
