harbor Freight sale on winches

Featured Replies

Not the most powerful but similar to what the stock one was. They have a 2000Lb single line pull for $50 (let the pop up load when you go to their site it is on that) and a 3000 Lb single line pull for 159.00. Naturally with a snatch block you can double the pull and let your reach be the snatch to anchor line. The shipping is usually very low as well, like under $10.

Just pointing out that they are out there.

In general, I would expect you could use a 2000lb on a Gen1. Gen2 would be about 10% over the rating so depending on mud suction, grade etc. you might not have enough, but then again the stock winch was in a similar position. The 3000lb one should do fine for either one but again, mud suction could still dictate use of a snatch block. But still, a 2000lb winch, snatch block and additional wire would run you well under $100 and while it might not be the ultimate winch solution it would be fine for most situations and certainly worth the money.

aside from mud. if you were stuck in snow, theres not so much of a suction, mostly loss of traction, right? this should be great for that right? i might have to order one.

I had a handwinch, with 20 ft of cable, I made up a hook to fit under the lip of my headache rack or the trailer front.

Took a crapload of cranking to get a 360 with locked up brakes onto the F250 bed, and again another crapload of cranking to get each of 2 more onto the trailer bed.

I will post pics of the truck with all 360's on it likely tomorrow.

They look ok especially for the price and cool that it freespools. It's a bummer using my stock Subaru winch since it doen't free spool...I might have to upgrade. Wonder how the quality is on these? I love most of my Harbor Freight tools but you never know until you look at 'em how (bad) the quality will be.

Here's the 3000 pound version:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=3442 May not be worth $150 but heck it's half the price of Ramsey or Warn 4500-5000 lb winches.

so, how do they measure the 2k lbs. that means that you can lift 2000 lbs into the air?

snatch block lets you double the pull? whats that? do you mean the lenght or it will pull 4k?

can you use pullies to multiply force, if you were realy stuck?

The 2000# ones are back-ordered till late December.

I ordered one.........

We'll see how the quality is.........:cornfuzz:

Seems to me it could only help in a self rescue situation and couldn't hurt in any other situation. With other people you have other means to move stuck vehicles.

"The Summer" (SubaruHummer) should weigh in at 1300# to 1500# so I figure this feminine winch should be more than I need? (provided it actually works)

We'll see.........

Glenn,

82 Summer.......:temper:

01 Forester.......:burnout:
