dsrt4x4
Need some help. My 86 carb'd wagon won't start(225k miles) . I did some troubleshooting, found that I am not getting fuel. I have voltage at the fuse panel, but get no voltage at the fuel pump (should be constant 12vdc??). Has anyone had similar problems, and if so, how did you fix. Also, does anyone know if there is anything in between the fuse panel and the fuel pump?? Maybe that is where I am losing voltage. Thanks for the help!! nipper
Check the fuel pump relay, I dont remeber where it is on your car, but with no power at the pump thats usually the culprit nipper
Cougar
The relay may be under the front passenger seat or the right side kick panel.
GeneralDisorder
Carb pumps only get power when cranking or running. There's a FPCU (fuel pump control unit) under the drivers side of the dash - it controls the relay using the tach signal from the disty. dsrt4x4
"Carb pumps only get power when cranking or running" Thanks for that info. I checked for voltage again when I cranked over the motor, and it's there. The fuel pump was bad:mad: . It was original at 225K, so I guess it paid its dues. New fuel pump installed and working great. Thanks again for all the info:banana:
