90 legacy get itself stuck for the first time

Recommended Posts

well i was out on a butte jsut seeing how the legacy did in the coarse sandy hill. it made it to the top with minor problems, i came to turn around and the car just dug in a bit. are there any pointers for maybe not getting stuck the next time? ( besides not going out there to start with)

maybe some slight hand braking to get the other rear wheel to grab. it shouldn't take much to stop the spinning rear wheel.
Uh, ebrake isn't going to do anything about an open differential. I think you needed a little bit more weight in the back to get that rear tire to have some traction. You could also try better tires and lowering the PSI in them (because you were on sand).

On sand you need to keep moving. Momentum is the key. Doing a three point turn is the key to getting stuck every time. Choose a stopping place wisely.

You must stop on an incline to aid in restarting momentum or leave enough room to turn around w/o stopping or back up in a straight line till you have better options.

Air down and don't stop.

Thats it...keep the R's up and air down and don't stop if you don't have to.

When stuck, lightly brake with the left fott. This acts like wht subaru does now with the computer controlled traction. When you lightly brake, the wheel with no trac tion will drag, and will transfer power to the stuck wheel. A poor mans AWD traction control.

Also on sand you need to drop the air pressure in the tires. AWD doesnt guarentee youll never get stuck.
