The Parts bin

Featured Replies

So I ordered a new clutch from them, called them so i could get the right clutch specifically and its the wrong one??? Anyone else have this problem?

I've always had good luck with them, but have heard of some issues like yours.

Are they going to take care of you, or are they giving you any grief about making things right?

First time ived used them, well they're emailing me within 2 days..... a return form and hopefully i will get fully reimbursed i dont know why I shouldnt. the lady i talked to was pretty stupid.

It happens, and does happen, with every parts retailer and etailer on the planet. The way they handle the situation when it arises is the key.

I've used them with good results but haven't had to return anything so YMMV. They have a decent reputation and you don't get that unless you create satisfied customers the vast preponderance of the time.

For the parts that are easily screwed up (like clutch kits) I tend to go B&M with my purchases. I want to lay eyes on the part before I leave the shop.... and the shipping cost for a full clutch kit isn't usually a pleasant sensation on my anal sphincter.

I used to use them and had great luck. Recently their parts database has changed and there are a lot more mix ups. When you need customer service they hand you over to a non-english language speaker (Pakistani or Indian). I had so much trouble getting my money back for a clutch kit that never even shipped that I disputed the charges on my credit card and got my money back that way. My CC company investigated and ruled in my favor. I will not use them again.

what GD said. wrong part means nothing. i've gotten more wrong parts from Subaru dealers than the parts bin, but i wouldn't say "Subaru parts dealers suck", it happens. hopefully they take care of it for you.

All *I* can say is, that this is the WORST thing I have heard about the parts bin, and reference GD's comment about "how they get their reputation" above.

Parts places have a hard time with older Subarus. They tend to mix EA82 and EA81 parts as if they are interchangeable. I find it best to order the parts through a parts store and show up with my old part for comparison. I have seen parts listed for my Brat over the years that I know will not fit. Also have had the unfornate event of purchasing some said parts online and in stores years ago. Lots of places and stores included have no knowledge of what fits only what a computor says. These same people could have been flipping burgers at McDonalds the day before. Can be very frustrating to say the least.

Well, yes, they are great until there's a problem.

Then good luck, because you may have to deal with someone who doesn't understand or speak more than 50 words of english.

I'm not going to bother with them anymore just because I don't want to risk having to fight for my money back from those people.
