Throw out bearing holder questions

Featured Replies

I don't know if this is EA81 or EA82 but when I bought a TO bearing at the dealer for my XT it came with the bearing holder

if you do order one, also order 2 of those retaining clips, they cost near to nothing and you don't want to tear it all apart because you saved $0.02 and the old clip broke ;)

what engine are you talking about? EA81 or EA82?

what's the holder? you mean the outer arm that the clips clip on to? that comes as an assembly if that's what you mean. buy a new throw out bearing assembly from Subaru.

all i can think of is the pivot arm, the throw out bearing and the clips.

Engine doesn't matter - tranmission does. EA81 transmissions, as well as later 2WD 5 speeds use a two-peice bearing assembly with the bearing pressed onto a cast peice with ears that contact the clutch fork.

Dealer I beleive sells them already assembled to the holder..... I think NAPA does as well. The cost is significantly higher than reusing the old holder but the savings in labor is worth it probably.
