Can I put 134-a refrigerant in a r12 A/C system?

Not without a conversion kit. Do a search here for more info

Right on, also the PAG oil for 134a is not compatible with the mineral oil for R12.

Heck I had my SVX changed over to 134A 6 years and 220k miles ago. As far as I know they drained and filled the system and changed the connection fitting. It’s been working fine.

Thnaks for all the input. I just had it charged with R-12 yesterday and it blows frost out of the vents now.

Wow with R-12? Sweet. Did they have a secret stash? I thought that stuff hasn't been available for years.

It's available, just illegal to reproduce. Even though it'll never happen, I hope I come across a full tank of it, my boss said he'd pay $500 cash!

A soob dealer here can do it for $44 bucks a can. And that is for r-12.

Wow sounds like investing in R-12 years ago would have been better than .com's!

my friend's dad did it for me. it cost me 40 bucks, and he has like 90 pounds of the stuff.
