Hitachi, from the vacuum line mess coming off from it.

This is what a Weber looks like:

crapachi ROUND weber SQUARE :) that should help

weber has more of a square mouth on it with square butterflys. the hitachi has around mouth and you only have one butterfly in the top for the choke. am i right correct me if im wrong.

crapachi... QUOTE]

I resent that!!! I HAVE A HITACHI JACKHAMMER!!! and it rules!

components match the diagram of a hitachi. I don't have anything carbed anymore but back when I did I thought they had the weber name or the hitachi symbol stamped on the side of the body didn't they? of course you usually had to clean a lot of gunk to see it

yea there was lots of gunk. this might make it easyer to rebuild the carb now is that all i need to know about the carb is what kind it is? and is there a fuel mixture adjusting screw ?

thanks

Might wanna rethink that bucko...

Hitachi it is since its a 2 barrel round mouth carb. If it was a single barrel round mouth, it would be a Carter-Weber which, unless you know how they work, can be more hassle then a Hitachi. Now there are people running the Weber (either a 28/32 or a 32/36 on here) or its look alike Holley 5200 which was made by Weber but has smaller barrels (GD and I discovered this after I bought one and compared) but it works better then a 32/36 when put onto an EA71.

That's a Hitachi - looks bone stock for an 87 Hatch. Should be a DCP-308 variant (30/28).

Carter-Weber's are single barrel and are completely unlike the one pictured.

Weber's (DGV, DFV, Holley 5200) are aftermarket only.

I've since found that this is only true for *some* 5200's. They were made by Holley under license from Weber and are roughly a copy of the DFV series carb with added emmissions equipment and sometimes smaller venturi's (depending on year and model they were used on). They are a crap shoot IMO and are only worth bothering with if you know how to rebuild one and get it cheap. A Weber can be had and installed (if you rebuild it yourself and buy the adaptor plate) for well under $200. But SPFI can be comparibly cheap if you have a decent source for parts.

Ahhh more info on the Holley 5200 is awesome. Only reason why I got it is cause someone had it for sale at PIR's swap meet one year for $15 and it was rebuilt:-p

the choke and the opening at the top of the carb both look like hitachi to me as well. I think a carter-weber is backwards from that and has different components.

What PIR?? Phoenix International Raceway??? (the most uber track ever  ) No It cant be.... so what is it?

yes Mike but with the theory "round is Hitachi and square is Weber" is too vague especially when someone comes on here looking to see what kind of carb they have. Which is why I mentioned the Carter-Weber having a round barrel on it.

PIR... Portland International Raceway

Sebring, Road Atlanta, and Laguna Seca are three tracks that beat PIR in the US alone..

PIR FTL bee-otch!!!! :-p

Of course, Sebring hasn't been the same since they neutered the hairpin.. :dead: but still, so many different surfaces, so many bumps.. its a hairy course.

yeah but, PIRs better................ because... um. oh it was in that movie taxi!!! OH YEAH! although seca is in lots of things... hmmm.

So what you gonna do with that carb?
