2 weeks ago my clutch cable snapped on bainbridge island.

Then the other evening leaving the watering hole my lights would not work yet my brights would, drove home with the brights an got home an the normal lights started working..... Now my lights work but when turning on the brights my hatch light comes on......

This morning EGR light is on, mine is bypassed......

Sounds like you have an alternator on the way out. My hatchback did some goofy things when it started to go on it. I.E.: wipers coming on and blowing every light in the climate control and half in the cluster and my normal running headlights. I too had to drive home with the brights, alot of other pissed off drivers blinded.

hahaha my car did the same thing, 85 wagon. i put some mud over the headlight lense to dimm it a bit, drove it for a month like that, what a fun way to drive, improvise on the fly, also had a throttle cable brake, used a tent cord and pulled it thru the firewall.

EGR light is timer operated to go on every 60k. There's a couple blue and green connectors you swap under the dash to extinguish it.

well i did just click over 180k, that makes sense. alternator is always interesting as well.

You should pull the alt and have it tested. It sounds like its about toast.

AaaHAA!

That just saved me my next job of investigating the EGR system :)

I should imagine mine has been on since the first 60K so I'm gonna havta switch the connectors a few times to make it go out
