Ea82 Starting Prob

Featured Replies

Im having probs with an Ea82 it doesnt hold start for more then 3 seconds, starts then switches off, the timming is ok, wat else could be the prob. I think the carburetor has the prob or the coil.

Anyone got a solution to this?

We can't diagnose your problem by psychic power.... The car needs air, fuel and spark. Start there and give us some information to work with. TEST something. Obviously you have spark, and air probably isn't a problem so start checking the fuel system.

I'm guessing fuel filter or fuel pump. You replace the fuel filter and it runs...it was probably clogged. But if it fixes the problem for a short period and it comes back, it's a sign of a weak pump.

EDIT: Was the car running alright before this? Did you do any work to it?

Random thought:

I unhooked my MAF a while ago to test something for someone else on the forum. Then, the engine would start, and then turn off after a few seconds. So much for the limp home mode, lol.

No good idea if that's similar to your problem or not, just an idea.

Does it run if you keep your foot on the gas?
