I am going to look at it ,it's for sale and i am hoping that the CV joint gave out and tha't why it only drives in 4WD.any other thing i should look at?????Thank's Bill.:wave:

Tire size and wear. If the tires are mismatched it can lock in 4WD. It's really bad for the car to drive it like that. If it comes out of 4WD on gravel/snow/wet grass then you've found your problem.

i was told from the owner that when he puts in 2WD the car wont go forward or backwards, that's why he put it in 4WD and it drives.(he also told me that he canot hear so that's why i was wonderind if the front CV shaft gave up the gost)

linkage is probably a little off and he isn't getting it in 2wd.. just neutral(the spot between 2wd and 4wd)

I've gotten 2 like that. 78 Brat had a blown out CV joint, and a coupe where the hub splines were totally chewed up, and the axle just spun inside the hub... (shavings inside the hubcap

i went and looked at the wagon and it was a bad CV joint,it turned in 1st gear in 2wd and the car never moved.i did not buy it because of the price and the list of things wrong with it,

needs clutch

needs CV joints

needs headlight ( gl )

somebody stole radio and destroyed dash

no dash lights

no 4WD indicator lights

4 difrent tire sizes 155,165.175 some where 80s and 2 where 70s.

and the main reason the price 500 FIRM!!!!

At best it was $100 car,i forgot to say about the big dent on the hood that he done when he backed into it with tailgate down of his truck amd the interior was nothing to write home about .Bill
