Ok guys, i am buying stuff for the big HG job on my 2000 OBW with 156,000 miles that I'm getting done after Thanksgiving. I bought a Valeo Clutch kit from I guy I know from work that says that they work fine for his Forester. I'm going through http://www.subarupartsforyou.com for the rest.

Frnt main seal, and if the water pump is original now is the time to replace it. Valve cover gaskets. Now would be a good time to replace the spark plugs too (much easier with the engine out of the car).

 

Don't forget to reseal the oil pump while you have it all there in front of you. Also a new T-stat is advised.

 

Flush out the radiator after you drain the cooling system, otherwise antifreeze + oil + air = gunk.

intake manifold gaskets...they will tear. and if they need it, you might need timing idlers and/or tensioner.

Make sure you check and tighten the screws on the back of the oil pump.It wouldn't be a bad idea to loctite them.I found one that took 3 turns before it was tight.Replace the o ring for the pump as well.

Here's the detail:

 

When you get the updated oil cover separator plate (11831AA210), you must also purchase 5 bolts (800406140), and one pre-loctite bolt (800406150), which attaches to the hole with the arrow by it.
