Buying parts for HG job. Have it all?

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, i am buying stuff for the big HG job on my 2000 OBW with 156,000 miles that I'm getting done after Thanksgiving. I bought a Valeo Clutch kit from I guy I know from work that says that they work fine for his Forester. I'm going through http://www.subarupartsforyou.com for the rest.

Head gasket kit

Separator Plate

Rear Main Seal

2 Cam seals

Timing Belt

Retaining Clips? (are these the right ones http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/cp_partdetail.php?partid=13476)

Let me know if I've got the basics. I don't have tons of extra money to throw around for little things. Thanks!

Frnt main seal, and if the water pump is original now is the time to replace it. Valve cover gaskets. Now would be a good time to replace the spark plugs too (much easier with the engine out of the car).

Don't forget to reseal the oil pump while you have it all there in front of you. Also a new T-stat is advised.

Flush out the radiator after you drain the cooling system, otherwise antifreeze + oil + air = gunk.

You ask about the details.

Here's the detail:

When you get the updated oil cover separator plate (11831AA210), you must also purchase 5 bolts (800406140), and one pre-loctite bolt (800406150), which attaches to the hole with the arrow by it.

I'm assuming the head gasket kit contains the following:

T-belt (13028AA21B)

Head gaskets x2 (11044AA632)

Intake gaskets x2 (14035AA281)

Exhaust gaskets x2 (44011AC030)

Valve cover gaskets x2 (13294AA040)

Valve cover bolt grommets x10 (13271AA071)

Spark plug tube seals x4 (10966AA000)

Front main seal (806733030)

Rear main seal (806786040)

Camshaft seals (806732150 x2)

Oil pump to block o-ring (10991AA001)

Water pump (21111AA007)?

Water pump gasket (21114AA051)

Thermostat and gasket (21200AA072 + 21236AA010)

If needed:

13033AA042 (T-belt tensioner)

Hope this helps.
