December 16, 200322 yr Hey all, I just have a quick question about some of the 1.8ltr old school subbies. I have a diagram of a single exhaust port 1.8ltr turbo XT header that I'm looking at. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/thomasck/XT6-TurboHeader1.JPG I've read that some 1.8ltr N/A engines have dual exhaust ports. Do any of the 1.8ltr turbo engines have dual exhaust ports? Thanks for any help!
December 16, 200322 yr the only 1.8L engine that I know of that came with dual exhaust ports is the EJ18, which is the engine for the early Impreza. All of the EA82 and EA82T engines had just a single exhaust port.

December 17, 200322 yr ummm, the MPFI and Turbo versions of the EA82 are dual, the carb and SPFI are single exhaust ports. Remember however, that the pattern for them is different than the EJ series of engines. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
December 17, 200322 yr Dual EXHAUST ports on turbo and MPFI EA82's??!? I mean - I know they are on the intake side - with the spider manifold and what not, but I thought they were single port exhaust? GD
December 17, 200322 yr even the EA82 turbo is single port exhaust... all EA engines are single port on the exhaust, but yes, they are multiport on the intake (except spfi and carbed) the EJ are all dual port, except the EJ22 from 96? (there was one goofy model, one year only, where they made an EJ22 single port!) it sucked, so they went back to the standard mpfi...
December 17, 200322 yr As Skip was so kind to email and point out to me... the intake ports are dual, the exhaust ports are single on all EA82 heads. Geesh! I can only blame it on being exhausted and too darn late to be posting stuff. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
December 19, 200322 yr Actually... the rare, non-US model Dual-Carb EA81s had dual exhaust ports. They were side-by-side, but they were actually separated. I have a picture of a header made for one of these engines somewhere. That engine was really strange, as the intake and exhaust valves were in the EA82 positions (ei-ie) instead of the normal EA81 positions (ie-ei).
December 19, 200322 yr Yeah - your gonna have to prove that with pics, cause no one here is going to belive you otherwise. Not saying it's not true, just that it doesn't seem to be within the realm of possiblity on a stock US model. GD
