January 22, 200818 yr of the late lamented Baja. http://jalopnik.com/347751/lutz-confirms-holden-ute+based-gmc-concept-at-new-york-auto-show-is-the-crewamino-nigh I wonder why GM thinks this is a good idea?
January 22, 200818 yr I wonder what they put in the office watercooler at GM. The Baja may have been two small, but this just looks too ugly. Maybe as a 2 door it would look better. Gm right now has some good products, but is a bit like a weathervane in a hurricane, not sure where to point. nipper
January 23, 200818 yr Couple of things that bother me about it is that it has a separate truck bed meaning it has some sort of actual frame under there. The elcamino was one solid body with no separate truck bed. Also 4 doors and a bed looks weird on anything that isnt a fullsize truck. GM should rethink this one.
January 24, 200818 yr It's probably a unibody up front with a stub frame in the rear, like the old Jeep Commanche. Still looks like a four door GTO with a bed to me...
January 24, 200818 yr i dont get how gm needs an australian version of itself to inspire them to come out with something new but already exists. that is like subaru of america designing something with a bench seat for fat people and cupholders then subaru of japan finds that innovative
January 28, 200818 yr Eh.. We've had those (Holden Crewmen) for years.. They weight too much IMO, and look crap. But most Holdens do IMO.
January 31, 200818 yr Yeah, the only cool Holden I've seen is the Commodore with the Skyline motor (Not sure if it was stock though) But I kinda like the wierd stuff we don't have here in the states
February 1, 200818 yr Yeah, the only cool Holden I've seen is the Commodore with the Skyline motor (Not sure if it was stock though) The first holdens to get the Commodore (or as some of us say commonwhore) name had a Skyline motor I believe. I know the skyline was a good car. But thats like mixing to ugly fat blokes together. :-\
February 20, 200818 yr Just found this. It has leaf sprung rear & the diff will whine before it hits 100,000km. They did an AWD version also.
February 21, 200818 yr i think its "hot" and they do make 2drs http://www.hsv.com.au/Cars/ESeries/maloor8/maloor8.asp http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/vehicleentry?vehicleid=15 http://www.fpv.com.au/cars/overview.aspx
February 22, 200818 yr The crewman shown and the 2 doors you pictured are completely different, but they did do a two door version which the crewman was based on, which was based on a 4 door sedan Holden Commodore, which was based on an Opel Omega I believe. The two doors you showed are 'VE's, and I have a feeling you might see them stateside, you're definately going to see its 4 door sedan brother, dressed up as a Pontiac. Don't cha just love the big happy GM family

The Ford version as a Ranchero would be a dud, far to stodgy looking.
February 22, 200818 yr Maloo is what the HSV (Holden Special Vehicle) utes tend to be called, and R8 is a bit like a trim/performance designation within HSV
February 24, 200818 yr Too bad Subaru didn't bring the BRAT back like that and gave it an EJ25T and made it to look like one of them Holdens. Hell, offer it in three trims, BRAT, BRAT XT, BRAT XT STi.
