Okay I bought the alternator and fixed my problem. I figured out my 12" sub sucked the life out of my stock alternator. Rockford fosgate rocks! Lol time for a capasitor.

Now my dash lights still won't come on or my running lights... and when warm the ru will idle at 600 to 800 rpm's.. Beats me. Im gonna get new spark plugs and wires soon it has a recent disty. And a ac delco coil. Not going to mod it too much I plan on buyin a sti engine when I get back from the sand box. I said plan on. Its not a for sure thing yet.

Okay now for the good news. Out on the enumclaw trails there are some shot up ran over subarus. Anyone want me to check for parts? I puled the good axels I saw 2 good diff's and drive line parts hub parts a arms and stuff barley any engine parts maybe oil spout starter and power steering pump.. Let me know by email

Sti will fix everything. HP problem... yanno what goes with a sti and a d/r. Bald tires and a huge grin when a civic rolls up thinkin ur lifted wagon just sounds loud haha.

My fuses are good

STi and D/R = Broken D/R

Checked all the fusable links? I burned one out on my 83 a few months ago. Had to pull that sucker out in order to see it was fried. Thankfully, they're easy to replace.

Loud clunks. Shattered metal. That Civic laughing at you cause you spilled all your tranny fluid at the stop light.

Doesn't AA have an EA with an STI engine and 33" boggers? As I recall, he blew out a bunch of axles and a diff on the maiden voyage, but the D/R held up. Haven't heard anything about it since then.

Not sure about AA's car, but it sounds about right. The weakest part would go first. And the EA engines are enough to bust axles on a lifted car, it would be cake for an STi. Solve the axle and diff troubles though, and I think the trans would die next.

I don't know if there's a healthy mix of speed and off roadability out there for those of us on normal budgets. It's apples and oranges.

But hey, since when does a Subaru need to prove anything to a Civic (Jeep, Mustang, Ferrari or anything else) anyway? A lifted Subaru is it's own animal. It can make it's own statement by it's existence alone. Rice is boring.

Yea right subaru never loses. I think id blow axels before a fresh d/r. Lol I've heard of u joint axels that hold up amazingly. Anyways a staged clutch should help. I just won't pop the clutch.. Lol

You'll yard the gears right out of a D/R. Just as an example, the EJ22T had the JDM 5 speed to handle the 160 HP it puts down stock. Modded to 200+ HP and we are seeing gears strip right out of them. The difference is that you can put RA gearsets in the 22T AWD tranny - there is nothing made that will work with the EA D/R to hold 200 HP - let alone 300.

Since you'll need an adaptor plate, and you are obviously going to be doing a T-case swap anyway, there is no reason to bother with the D/R at all - in fact it's pretty silly. Use a Nissan 720 truck transmission along with the T-case, or a T-case from a Samuri. The Sammy t-cases have a high range reduction of 1.2:1, and can be geared for a low range of 6:1 or more. At least that combination has a chance - and it's lighter anyway - what do you need a whole transaxle for when a simple transmission will do?
