April 24, 200817 yr you may search about it, since i remember over time reading mentions of it. sorry i dont have a direct answer, and this is not your typical "just search it" response.
April 24, 200817 yr Author I know it works for old toyotas. and the flapper maf is very similar inside... I know all you would be doing would be changing the spring tension increasing tension would make the door harder to open leading to reading it as less air. leaning things out. and the opposite should also be true taking tension away would richen the mixture. but does it work enough to be worth doing?? I am going to search more but flapper maf mostly leads to posts about not worth it to drive that far for a flapper maf turbo car, lol
April 24, 200817 yr Recall reading an article years ago that dealt with modifying this type. The car was a VW with a Bosch airflow meter. Author claimed reducing the tension of the flapper spring, along with a few other modifications, produced enough HP the engine ripped the engine mounts. I never could grasp how modifying the flapper so that it opened quicker could produce any appriciable HP gain.
April 25, 200817 yr Author just that an engine makes more power slightly leaned out. as opposed to pig rich.. it's just another way to trick an ECU. (I agree with you... being alittle leaner or richer shouldn't be enough to rip engine mounts) 88-ish camry owners report nice gains from a few clicks but it's all rump roast-dyno gains
February 26, 200917 yr Ive been very curious as to what the flapper maf sends to the ecu in volts? And has anyone tried a hotwire with that same volt? Ive searched "flapper Maf" and no one has posted about it, if it has been accomplished. are there other readings that the ecu gets from a flapper that a hotwire doesnt have? p.s. i dont have a volt meter

February 26, 200917 yr Im considering this for saving space in the engine bay. Subiemech, these trouble codes out of which book? Im sorry if it insults you that i dont think you recalled those numbers from memory:lol: thanks for the numbers

February 26, 200917 yr I need room for the intercooler pipe to go through the fender wall. just like suberdave did, cept im runnin an ea82t:) I guess i could move the charcol can below and see if that makes enough room. lol not sure if its a big deal but i have the 1986 gl-10 ea82t, but im pretty sure its the same engine as xt Edited February 26, 200917 yr by my69opelgt does chassis matter?lol
