just did my second ej harness

Featured Replies

after helping pooparu with his harness i got a email from a guy that was in dire need of help getting his rig running. so with my trusty kennedy manual, legacy service manual and truly not much of a clue if i could get it running or not i gave it a shot.

the one in pooparus was cut down quite a bit, with all the BS removed already so there was less to start with. His was everything, short of the head light harness. about 4 hours after of sitting with a set of wire cutters the mess was less then half the crap it was before.

we laid it on the motor, plugged everything in, hooked up a constant power, a keyed power and start power and it started right up.

i don't know who was more shocked him or me.

so i shook his hand and said i don't do clean up, i was just here to get it running and took off.

so i learned something, i guess i can tear down a harness and get it running. always wanted to know that. now if i only had something to put a ej in of my own.

wish i knew more about wiring i think thats the only thing that is keeping me from buyin a donar car is the fear of wiring

well that and my lack of cash.

it's amazing how easy it is once you know your way around the harness. it's suprisingly easy. my first one took the better part of 3 months.......now I can churn one out in a few hours.

it really isn't as bad as i really was thinking. just trace the wires, cut the ones you don't need. i guess the good thing is i know what all the plugs i needed so that helped. it was all about getting rid of the ones i didn't. after that you have a manageable mess on your hands.

is there an "engine swap" basics thread? i'm wondering what, besides the engine harness and ECU inputs is necessary to splice in? ignition, power, etc.
