It's the AIRBAG light, really...

Featured Replies

OK she was right. I don't listen to her. I thought she said the ABS light. Sorry. Nope. It's the AIRBAG light. (No wonder I don't listen, it's an airbag.) Anyway, I saw it for myself tonight, finally. We we're out (She was driving) and we made a couple of quick stops. She put it in Park & left the engine running while she ran into a couple of places. After the 2nd stop, when she put it into D, the AIRBAG light came on and stayed on the rest of the way home. Later on we went out again and the light was out. My 1st thought is maybe the seat sensor is acting up. I know the passenger side seat has one, because of the overhead console activation lamp. I would figure the drivers side must have one too. Maybe it's getting worn out from too many ins & outs?

Car is an '06 Legacy wagon, 25K.

this needs to go back to the dealer or body shop. this is not "a warn out" sensor issue. most subaru's from the early 90's still have their original SRS sensors, they don't fail typically.

it's not still under warranty?

You could possibly determine the cause using the diagnostic connector and ground probes. However, without the factory service manual and proper procedure/precautions, it's possible to unintentionally set off the bags while trying to correct the problem. Since in your previous thread you indicated that the car is still under warranty, this is really a time to have the dealer take care of things. If you had a poor experience with one dealer, try another -- warranty service should be covered at any SoA authorized dealer, not just where you purchased the car.

Take it to a dealer for sure. 2 year old car with an airbag light on??? they need to fix that. IIRC, there are federal warranty laws specifically covering airbags(kinduv like the emmisions equipment warranty they have to cover X amount of time) I believe it's either 6 or 10 years.

Either way it's way still under warranty. Get it checked or or you may get a sudden surprise, and we ain't talking about a Jack-in-the-Box.

Even if Blu, 1997 had the airbag light come on, i would not mess with it, i would take it to the dealer.

This is just playing with explosives, so its best to go to the dealer. You have air bags in the driver side and passenger side (read the owners manual, thats what it is there for).

Well, I guess I'll have to hit up another dealer then. I am not going back to where we bought it from. As long as the "other" dealer doesn't mind looking at it. They did right by me on the problem my OBS had back in January. Thanks.
