Love_em_when_there_old
So My Front left Drive Axle is blown on my 2 door 85 GL EA81. So my Question is, Will a Front left Drive Axle fit my Tranny from an EA82 86 5 speed Gl wagon, mines a 4 speed:)
GeneralDisorder
No - EA82 axles are too long. The transmission type has less to do with it than the track width of the body. EA81 axles are shorter. GD
MilesFox
any other ea81:banana: axle will work. left and right are both the same

torxxx
not only is length a problem bearing size is slightly different. a friend of mine had me try to put one on his car because he insisted he bought the right axle. After pressing the axle through the wheel bearings and ruining the bearings he believed me that they will NOT interchange
GeneralDisorder
EA81 and EA82 front wheel bearings are identical. They are both 6207 C3's, and either axle will fit either knuckle just like it's supposed to be there. The difference is mainly the length and the sizes of the joints.
