Anyone use A1 Cardone new axles?

Featured Replies

Has anyone had experience with these axles? I have used other parts by them, recently a brake booster on the family sedan, and it's fine. But I never knew they offered axles too. They're listed as new, not remanufactured.

When I worked at Kragen Auto parts years ago we sold them. Garbage! Pure garbage! Get some MWE remanufactured axles. I just puut some in my 84 Brat. Great stuff. And he put the stonger EA-82 inboard cups on my EA-81 axles at no extra cost.

i've got new cardones on my fronts and they work just fine.

lifetime warranty + low price (i paid $50 each) = good enough for me.

just check them out before you accept them, kragen's is pretty shady and they tried to give me a used one.

i'll dump a golden brick before i pay for mwe's!!

I hope your thinking of the remanufactures axles from A1 Cardone, I meant the NEW ones. I think I'll try them, at $50 it's a deal I can't pass up.

I would trust EMPI before I trusted A1. They have always been shady and there's been many regrettable stories about their axles on here over the years. The EMPI stuff looks better than the GCK stuff did IMO. Sounds like the price difference is negligible - i paid $58 each for the EMPI's.

Don't use them on Automatic equiped cars. Every time I've used Cardone or EMPI they cause a bad vibration when stopped in drive.

You're WAY better off rebooting the Factory Subaru axles.

I have to throw in my pro-EMPI testimonial. The front axles on my '81 hatch MT are/were new EMPI's. They are three years old now and still totally solid. I put a new EMPI front axle in the '84 wagon MT about a year ago, same deal...totally solid. I think the key word is "new" not reman. Maybe EMPI's used to be a lower quality product, but the three I have used have been great.

where are the new $50 cardones? i'm only finding them for $65.

any experience with duralast? i know experiences vary, but i've had pretty good luck with autozone parts and service.

thanks, Bill

Prices have risen sharply on anything heavy in the past few months.

I had EMPIs on my 87 GL that were absolute crap.

I had Cardones on my 95 Legacy that were great.

Luck of the draw.

A quick Bing search yielded this,

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/search/?searchType=global&N=0&Ntt=66-7008

Or the reman,

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQSubaruQQLoyaleQQA1_CardoneQQAxle_AssemblyQQ19901994QQA1607008.html

But you have to send your old one back for the core charge.

Double check to make sure they fit!

They're still on amazon, but only the remans and no free shipping.

My local independent chain (of like 5 stores) handles the Cardone stuff. Infact I usually use their WP when I do timing belt jobs.

FYI I run a lot of EMPI new axles on my vintage VW's. They don't get many miles but have been fine. At the time they were new and the same price as reman's really.

Congratulations on using the search function as a newbie.

Welcome to USMB.

It truely is luck of the draw. I bought 2 new cardones from oreilly's for my wagon, one knocks under acceleration and light turning only, the other works great. I have been too lazy to go yank it to have it warranteed.

my experience with autozone dura-crap axles is not to trust them further than you can throw them...

maybe it is luck...but mine is terrible I guess. I ended up rebuilding the stockers, after a total of 4! "new" axles from autozone that were just awful. a couple started clicking before I'd left the driveway! :-\
