EJ Struts whats the options

Featured Replies

theres a local guy here that has a set of struts off a' 98 Impreza Outback Sport , is this what I want to lift my legacy sedan?? are the springs lighter on that car ?? whats the options on these ? are there only 2 different ones or ??? thanks Scott

No. You want Legacy Outback struts and springs from a 96-99. Like I said, when I used the OBS springs with the LegOB struts, I was able to reasemble them with no spring compressor.

so there is 3 different strut lengths ? or ???

I believe the legacy (non OB) and impreza, whether OBS or not are the same.

essentially, yes. AFAIK, OBS springs are a tad taller than stock impreza ones. but lower spring rate than legacy ones.

Hey Scott I have a set of struts off a 98 legacy outback if you are interested.

I believe the legacy (non OB) and impreza, whether OBS or not are the same. The Leg OB strut is the only longer one.

A good thread to reference.

Is this yellow spring a King spring?? If so I have some ride-questions for you..

Anyhoo here's a shot of (from left to right) a FOR spring, LEG (non OB), and IMP..

I also have a couple spring questions for you guys:

Will an OB front spring from an H-6 go onto a 96-98 OB strut?

Thanks,

Is there any difference in the springs heights from a standard legacy and a outback or is the height all gained from the outback strut. Because if not and you had just legacy springs all you would need is outback struts

Hey Zap, so again, is that a king spring on a new KYB strut??

(and not trying to hijack, but i have related questions to OB strut-lifts here ;)

I'm curious about swapping king springs in my front OB-swapped struts for more strength to hold up my modified mudrat baja bumper and skid. I got a tip from Gregg to go for H-6 springs. But I'm not sure H-6 front springs will go into 96-99 OB struts..

Your opinion on the H-6 springs vs king springs? I think my modded bumper and skid are like 140ish pounds now, so I deffintely want more stregth up front than stock OB coils. . .

thanx

misspelling

according to the information I was able to find from various sources and compiles....they would work, but you'd need the newer upper spring perch:

spring rates for the newer legacies were a bit harder to find....so the H6 ones might be stiffer...
