Just got new timing set (complete kit) replaced.

She has ran strong ,with all vital signs in excellent range until

the timing components were replaced.

Today,it was taking the mechanics family (not me)to church, and thanks to an observent driver (again not me),it was shut down and came home on a flatbed towtruck, in an effort to avoid any possable damage.

According to the mech,he never let it get hot:)

WHAT THE H__L?

(1 ran ok at an idle.

(2)dragged its butt up even a slight hill.

(3) will not pull under a load.

(4) TEMPATURE runs HOT.

Also might consider that the old timing belt(s) tension was slopppppy.

and the CTS+O2 SENSORS ARE BOTH NEW.

This was a night and day issue.:confused::confused::confused::confused:

HELP PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would say the timing could be off a tooth. It will still run, just won't have any power.

All the air bled from the cooling system?

GD

my guess is that the timing jumped a tooth. ide pull the front covers, and check it out...

I hav'nt talked to you guys in a while, and was in the process of threading some other mods(stay tuned) and this popped up.

good leads.

I left speculation out of the thread, I was hoping you guys would be thinking the same as me and COBCOB.:)

I am courious?????????

could there be an ignition timing issue?????

or cam timing issue???????????

could there be an ignition timing issue?????

or cam timing issue???????????

Absolutely - since the timing belt runs both the cams and the ignition. Redo the belts, then reset the distributor.

One more vote for cam timing off a tooth. Doing the belts in the car, it's kinda hard to see the driver's side alignment marks. I've screwed it up before, and the car exhibited similar symptoms...idled okay but NO power. Mine even backfired pretty good.

Mykingcrab's out of town at the moment so I stepped in as his proxy wrench... I got the RX over to my place yesterday to survey the situation.

Correct on all accounts. DS belt was off a tooth so I re-did BOTH belts just to make certain.

On this vehicle, due to the amount of lift, the marks are pretty easy to see if you're laying under the car looking up. The alternator blocks the view from on top which is annoying as heck though!

She's running great now.
