$200 85 Brat

Featured Replies

SCORE I just picked up a 1985 Brat for $200 it runs good the trans is leaking and were the torsion bar bolts to the frame is rusted out and broke free

I have pulled the torsion bar and rear end out and I am making some kind of braket to weld in there

now that I have the rear end out I need new bushings does any one know of a polyurethane bushing kit for that brat I have looked at rock auto and they only have bushings for the front lower tralling arm are they the same as the back bushings

is there any one here in Western NC

I will add some pics when I can thanks

no one is answering you because they hate you because you found a brat for 200 bucks.. Just kidding someone should chime in here.

that price is about right for one with rusted off torsion bar mounts......how is the rest of it as far as rocker panels and shock mounts. any pics.

Nice score.

It is getting hard to find a brat in ANY condition anymore it seems!

As far as the bushing kit goes, I dont believe that Ive heard of those being offered aftermarket.

I may be able to still order the OE subaru bushings. If youre interested, PM me.

Also, good luck with the rear-end rust. I fixed a brat that was rusted out like that.

You want to make a bracket that closely resembles the factory steel... and tie to as many good points on the unibody as you can!

nice score, i got my 85 brat for $350 needing a lot of rust repair. hopefully i will be able to get it to start tonight.

you said that you are in western north carolina, where abouts are you? i have family all over the place in the southern va, western nc area.

just to brag here but i got mine for $85

anyway

use the seach to find people doing subframes and maybe you can use that info to reconstruct the rusty places.

(i have been looking at these too as my $85 brat in quite rusty)

i believe the rear bushing etc are the same as a wagon of simmilar vintage but a more experienced member could confirm that

Subarus R Us in Swanannoa(spelling?) just east of Ashville.

Nice all subaru shop(duh) that may be of some help with parts.
