Is this the ECU?

Featured Replies

I was trying to decode my check e lite on my 93 loyale. I unscrew the panel under the steering and found this. I'm not sure where the LED lite is or is it the ECU @ all.

Thank you in advance!

so I need to unhook all the wires to get the error code?

How that works?

Vincent

You may need to disconnect the connectors to lower the unit down but they need to be connected to show the error code. There should be just a few screws holding the unit in place.

led should be at the "top" end of the silver box, towards the steering wheel

push the big bundle of wires out of the way, trun key on and look for flash

looks nothing like the old style '86 box

correct. Once you know where the light is, you won't need to remove the kick panel to check it. You just need to look straight down the steering column to see it.

That is what my chilton said too... but I just can't find the LED... I have looked around, pushed the wires aside and stuff and it just doesn't seems to be there

I turn the key to on and expect I'll catch some fleshing light but nope... nothing happen as far as I can see.

Anyone can upload a pic of where it suppose to be?

There is a hole in the front of the unit.

Front being the skinny face that is closest to the driver.

The light is kinduv down inside the hole. Look harder, it is there.

If it isn't lighting at all, you have a lack of power to the ECU.

to follow up what Gloyale says

this light is also known as the

oxygen monitor light

It is right where he says.

This is an older unit but the light hole

should be the same.

You might want to plug together your green connectors

by the drivers side hood hinge

This will make the light flash.

Key must be in the run position

for it to flash.
