Featured Replies

looking for help to remove the rev limiter on

a rx Leone rally car.

running 15 pound, exhaust, intake done, legacy turbo and

intercooler, eletric fans.

any help welcome

rev limiter? perhaps you are thinking of the fuel cut... Is it a hard jolt? Or is it actually limiting the revs?

Is it an automatic?

fuel cell in boot, larger injectors, fuel surge tank for which there is a direct line to each injector, speed cutout has been removed, but it hit's a rev limiter at around 6500.

it's an ea82

Hmm... I never knew that our cars had a rev limiter.

I'd like to know some more information on how you have the fuel set up. Maybe a picture or 2?

as far as I know they dont have rev limiters.. they just won't rev much high then that..

My carbbed EA82 stops reving at 7 grand

my t-wagon went to about 7500 according to the digidash in neutral, but couldn't get it past 7000 under acceleration.

5 speed manual. wonder if anyone has done work on an ecu for these?

what year is it? My GL-10 seems to rev limit at 6500. Its an 86. Where as my 89 RX will rev with nothing to stop it, except for something scattering in the engine.

John... I too have been following the Megasquirt project. What are your thoughts on it applying to our engines?

I seem to recall seeing someones sig a while ago that said they had a Megasquirt on an EA81T...

Yeah, someone does. And there is a website about it, either the EA81T or the megasquirt. But i know there was one about the megasquirt ecu setup.

Yea, what WJM said about his 89 RX. My '89 GL Sedan w/DR 5 speed and my '87 GL FWD 5 speed will both rev to 7300 RPM and both run clean and smooth @ those revs. My '88 GL 4WD w/3 AT goes to only 5500 to 5900 RPM. This one I suspect it has some form of rev limiter, fuel cut-out, or what not. The '88 GL will rev to 7300 just fine w/o a load on it. All of those tugs of the throttle happened with Sunoco Ultra in the fuel tanks, btw. I have taken into consideration that the factory tachometers could be off. I've only been working with EA-82 cars for about 6 months and I've never bothered to stick a timing light or tach on one, too busy 'wheeling them!

After a tear-down and inspection of an '86 EA-82T I can understand why they *could* actually turn 7500 RPM. Not that they're going to make lots of power @ 7500 with the cams they're stuffed with. I just thought that mabie the 5500 to 5900 RPM with the '88 w/AT *might* be an AT thing. No?:eh:

back in the stock AT days of the GL-10, it wouldnt got past 6400. Still wont go past 6500, even with no load.
