September 15, 200916 yr Author Me too . I think its going to be a while before I can find this replacement motor. I need to sell this V65 and a popup camper before I can start hunting again. Which suks cause there is a ST1100 on CL for 850.00 which is a heck of a deal.
September 23, 200916 yr Author Im going to pick up that ST1100 for 650.00 and part the rest out. Im guessing 1 month and ill see how she does with the new engine and trans. Should be a 95:1 low range.
September 28, 200916 yr newbie here whats the advantages of using that honda motor? does it have alot of power? does it mate up to subi trans?
September 28, 200916 yr Author It will mate up to the subi trans, stock subaru low range is 23:1, this will give me 95:1
October 17, 200916 yr Author Yes it is! Wedding planning and being sick slowed things up a bit. Its going to be nice here tomorrow and ill get some welding and grinding in. Ill have some pics for tomorrow for sure!
October 20, 200916 yr Author Here is the latest. Ive got the motor mocked in place, most of the front end removed and the ST1100 to subaru adaper plate built and coupling shaft. You can see the large pulley on the adapter plate, im going to run another alternator on the car cause the ST alternator is 200 bucks new and it doesnt put out many amps. Im sure your thinking how is he going to change the belts? See here, should be fun to test out and see how well this setup will work.....http://www.marineengine.com/products/accessory.php?in=18-5948 The air cleaner is going to stick out the hood at least 2", should look even more Mad Max like.. Enough talk here are the pics. Edited October 20, 200916 yr by bigo1966
October 20, 200916 yr That thing is F**KING NUTS!!!!! I love it! Lemme know if you want to upgrade to a 6" lift for some extra tire clearance.... What are you going to do for the lower ex-radiator support? Are you gonna make a badass Mad Max bumper to help protect that beast? -Bill
November 2, 200916 yr Author Made some great progress this weekend. I still need to finish up the front mount for the engine. Wasn’t really to sure on what the plan was but this is what I ended up with. It should be very strong and I won’t have to worry about it. The exhaust is going to be fun. That’s the next major fab step. I need to buy some metal and some exhaust tubing. Since im getting married the 7th it will be a few weeks till I get to that part.
November 2, 200916 yr The name R2D2 will have to be used somewhere in this project, mainly because his head is sticking out of your hood. And I can't wait to see this thing running, that is crazy! Edited November 2, 200916 yr by 93Newbaru
November 2, 200916 yr Looin good man, I can't wait to see this thing in action! Should be pretty awesome! -Bill
November 2, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the feedback. R2D2 is pretty darn close. Its very tempting to fill up the float bowles and idle around the yard to see how well it works.
November 7, 200916 yr It's the 6th...tomorrow is the wedding....so sunday you should be done with R2D2 correct? cause you DID say after the wedding. Technically Sunday the 8th is after the wedding. Have fun, congrats on the wedding tomorrow... -Caleb

November 13, 200916 yr Author Man, you guys are quick! No slack around here! Ok, im back from the honeymoon and tomorrow im going to build the last (front) motor mount. I think im going to have to hook up the oil tank, top off the oil and coolant and take her for an idle. With no power brakes, clutch will be under the hood and no throttle cable what could go wrong. Im shooting for a video by the end of this weekend.
November 16, 200916 yr Author Bad News, no progress other than a few bends in the front motor mount. 10" of snow on the car didnt help either. But I did get my house addition prepped for hardwood floor:banana:
November 16, 200916 yr Bad News, no progress other than a few bends in the front motor mount.  I see how it is, your house comes before the car when there is snow. BS!!!
