rear wiper arm removal

Featured Replies

my rear wiper arm on my 97 outback sport is sagging due to large amounts of snow that have been sitting on it. how does one goes about removing the wiper arm?

Start soaking it with the penetrant of your choice.

If you just want to remove the arm that's the easy part (compared to removing the wiper motor).

Little plastic cap that covers a nut on the end of the arm.

Pry that puppy up, probably a 10mm nut (I forget).

Work the wiper arm off. If you're unable they make wiper arm pullers - an auto parts probably loans these.

But get it soaking.

Couldn't agree more!

thanks guys. working on it now.

I also have a seized rear wiper. It stopped on me and I tried to remove it but could not. Now I understand how to do it. I did notice that my wiper motor was very hot and I unplugged it. Could this mean the motor is bad or that the wiper shaft is seized and the motor got hot trying to move the arm but couldn't?

Thanks.:)

soak it, ah the rust belt at its best.

hello DOT, might as well pump my car full of bullet holes today, for in a few years, the SALT you put on the roads will just make holes as well.

I tried soaking mine, but I finally got the little 4.99 tool to remove it from the auotparts store and it popped right off.
