April 19, 200916 yr my power steering is low.. why is that? where does it get used up? or is it leaking or something....
April 19, 200916 yr Look around for pump particularly and under the car around the PS lines and the rack itself. You could have a torn boot.
April 19, 200916 yr double check the markings on the dip stick. i don't think it's supposed to be full to the top.
April 19, 200916 yr Author yeah i know... theres a hot and cold line... and it was below the cold line at hot..
April 19, 200916 yr When they leak usually it's from the pump itself and there is a little red puddle on top of the engine if you look immediately behind the PS pump.
April 21, 200916 yr Once you find the leak, you should consider flushing the p/s system. The leak is usually from contamination generated by the pump. Lots of contamination is the reason most p/s fail. That contamination wears the seals, leaks fluid, increases friction, etc. My local p/s rebuilder uses a Magnefine in-line filter to keep the fluid clean. Check http://www.broncograveyard.com for this filter.

April 21, 200916 yr all 3 of my legacy's that leaked, was the O-ring gone bad down by the sterring rack where the hoses attach.....never had a pump leak. Consider yourself lucky. Probably a third of the cars that I get the pump is leaking. Rebuild kit is the same price as a used PS pump - aboptu 20 bucks.
