June 1, 200916 yr Hello all. i just recently bought a 90 subaru loyale. From what i can tell it is a SPFI. but i would like to see ea 82 with MPFI. just so i know for sure. i bought the loyale wagon for parts and just want to make sure i can use IAC, TPS and so on. needs timing belt, all parts came with car. 3spd auto fwd with eletronic over drive does not work( ill get to that later) basically i need to know if my hunch is correct does anyone have a good pic so i can see the difference between SPFI and MPFI.:-\ hope that is enough info to answer my question. being in florida and not having a lot of time around these cars i look at it and looks the same but also i have not seen a MPFI before. used to old american trucks and cars. bought one gl sedan and now i have four subaru's. 86 gl wagon, 88 gl sedan, 90 loyale wagon, 05 baja turbo. i wish i would have know before that would get to be such an addiction. would have planned for more room for more subaru's . Thank you for any help the board members can give.

June 1, 200916 yr If it has four injectors, it's MPFI. If it has one injector just above the throttle plate, it's SPFI. The MPFI also has two intake ports in each head, instead of the single port of the SPFI and carb engines.
June 2, 200916 yr Loyale's did not come with MPFI except for the 1990 turbo model. GD +1. Absolute easiest way to tell for sure. On a 90 Loyale: If no turbo, then no MPFI.
June 2, 200916 yr And MPFI with turbo- I have learned to never say never on older vehicles, especially companies that would do custom orders, and especially if the vehicle has been out in the world for more than a few years. I have had two 68-72 F100s that had a 351m or 400 in them (not offered in trucks until 77), and one that had a 429 (never offered in trucks). Now I'm about to have a GL with an EJ22, so anything can be possible. Edited June 2, 200916 yr by 4x4_Welder
June 2, 200916 yr Author perfect! you guys come through yet again thank you. i thought there would be two runners for each head. those are hard to come by here in florida. been there done that with the F100's . again thank you!!!!
