July 12, 200916 yr 1998 Legacy L, 2.2L auto. I was replacing radiator and other stuff. I put it all back but now cannot figure out how to put back the dual fans. Does anyone have a pic of how it should be done?
July 12, 200916 yr Passenger side will slip in first. Start the bolts but do not tighten them. Install the Drivers side fan, start all the bolts and tighten them up. Plug in the fans and install the overflow bottle.
July 12, 200916 yr +1 ^..pretty simple...the only time its a little more difficult to remove is when both fans are one unit on some of the newer foresters and such as to where the upper rad. hose/neck gets in the way....
July 12, 200916 yr Author The problem is, being the mechanical genius that I am, I cannot figure out which one is the passenger side and more importantly which side is up and down or left/right. Plus I cannot find where they mount to. A pic would be *really* helpful.
July 12, 200916 yr electrical connectors go on the bottom, to the outside. So just put them in with the wiring at the bottom outside corners. They will only fit one way. It is actually easier to remove the whole radiator with fans attached for future reference.
July 12, 200916 yr So they bolt to the radiator? [...] Yes, although if you replaced the radiator, you'll have to transfer the speed-nuts from the old one for some of the positions.
July 13, 200916 yr Author I got it -- thanks. Note to self: Take pictures of everything upon taking it apart.
