How to put fans back on?

Featured Replies

I was replacing radiator and other stuff. I put it all back but now cannot figure out how to put back the dual fans.

Does anyone have a pic of how it should be done?

Passenger side will slip in first. Start the bolts but do not tighten them. Install the Drivers side fan, start all the bolts and tighten them up. Plug in the fans and install the overflow bottle.

+1 ^..pretty simple...the only time its a little more difficult to remove is when both fans are one unit on some of the newer foresters and such as to where the upper rad. hose/neck gets in the way....

The problem is, being the mechanical genius that I am, I cannot figure out which one is the passenger side and more importantly which side is up and down or left/right. Plus I cannot find where they mount to.

A pic would be *really* helpful.

electrical connectors go on the bottom, to the outside.

So just put them in with the wiring at the bottom outside corners. They will only fit one way.

It is actually easier to remove the whole radiator with fans attached for future reference.

So they bolt to the radiator? I need to look more carefully.

Yes, although if you replaced the radiator, you'll have to transfer the speed-nuts from the old one for some of the positions.

I got it -- thanks.
