source for new ignition switch or how to reduild

Featured Replies

My Brats ignition switch has given up. I sold my parts Brat one a while back (doh).

Anyhow, I dont even want to mess with sourcing a used one, that is going to wear out too.

Where can i get a brand new one, or a rebuild kit to fix mine, or send it someplace to rebuild it to new?

thanks

this is a big pita......

either way. i may try to squirt some wd-40 in there to see what that might do......but its like jello in there....when the key gets turned.

Could it be that you just need a new key cut? That is often the solution with these....

As for a new ignition lock - the dealer is the only source for them and I'm sure it won't be cheap. As Mick says the better option is to remove the lock (not really that hard - pull the wheel and cover's, remove the bolts from the back using some needle nose vice-grips, and pull the whole thing off) and take it to a smith to have it rebuilt.

well this is figured out.......

I will be buying a new battery. guess the old 2001 Interstate battery is done.

My alternator must have fried it with AC current or something, on top of the age of the battery.

Bad timing on this since property taxes are due and i have them in the mail amounting to a good chunk of change. Guess i will wait a few weeks to get the new battery, and just drive the 92's until then.
