September 14, 200916 yr I just received a MBC bought on Ebay and I am a bit confused there is a "T" fitting with a ball and spring in it and an adjustable bleed valve. My question is if this is a bleed off type controller why is there a check valve? I am thinking about removing the check valve and just treat it as a bleed valve.
September 14, 200916 yr Read up on how MBC's work, then you will realize just how simple they are to install.
September 14, 200916 yr Author I think I have the install down but the t fitting having a check ball confuses me. I guess I had a misplaced idea that this was a spring valve controller instead of a bleed controller. I'm used to seeing the spring valve controllers. Edited September 14, 200916 yr by vagen
September 14, 200916 yr Gotchya. Hope you didnt get one of those $4 home-built MBC's off ebay. I got one of those thinking it would save me a few bucks and it almost blew up my EA82T when it failed. I ended up spending $60 on a GFB MBC and it worked great.
September 14, 200916 yr Author this looks like a decent quality piece but having a check ball in the TEE fitting confuses me. I think I'll just remove the check ball and spring and use it like every other bleed type I've looked at today.
September 14, 200916 yr Ahhhh... yeah. When i had my Turbo legacy, there was a guy over on the Legacy Central board who bought that setup. he couldnt figure it out, but got alot of help from other members. pix & discussion can be found here: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=35205&highlight=boost+controller
September 14, 200916 yr Author thanks guys I will go with the straight bleed setup and no check valve
September 14, 200916 yr From what I read, that is not the way that MBC works, and unless you use the T it will not work propperly. Read through the thread I linked you. It sheds more light on the subject.
September 14, 200916 yr I plan to use the Tee but not the spring and ball in the tee. You might end up overboosting. Then you can kiss that EA82T byebye. Ask me how I know Actually, if you have a boost gauge, try it without the TEE completely. If you dont get boost creep, it might be ok without it. But I would use any MBC without keeping a sharp eye on the gauge. Edited September 14, 200916 yr by Turbone
September 14, 200916 yr Author I have a gauge and I will be watching this like a hawk. I will not add any boost till I have the intercooler installed. The plan is to intercool and then add boost. I am planning to add an egt and a WBO2 to further monitor things.

September 14, 200916 yr I dont know why they added that tee with the kit, unless its supposed to have the boost gauge connected to it. But I dont understand why the ball&spring for it.
September 15, 200916 yr The guys on the other forum refer to it as a "Bleed Type Valve" Im not sure, its not the type of valve I have used. When I bought mine, I did my research ahead of time and bought the correct valve that worked right the first time
September 15, 200916 yr This is what I have and its been working great. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hallman-Manual-Boost-Controller-Pro-Rx-Black_W0QQitemZ120469284608QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item1c0c876700&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245
September 15, 200916 yr Author I did some research on factory boost controls and what I found was a bleed system operated by a solenoid valve. I will try this unit and see if it works if it doesn't I'll buy a spring valve type.
